As the release of Joomla! 1.6 grows closer, we are getting more and more questions asking if J Admin Mobile [iTunes Link] will support Joomla! 1.6.
The short answer: OF COURSE!
The long answer: There is a lot of consider. We want to take advantage of and include any new features that will come with Joomla! 1.6 while continuing to allow JAM to work with Joomla! 1.5 sites. The xmlrpc functionality in Joomla! 1.6 will be changing, so this will take some time to make sure the plugin continues to work.
So, what's the timeline? Here is a page with status on the core Joomla! 1.6 project:
http://www.joomla.org/component/content/article/5252.html
Future Release Predictions
It is impossible to give a definite time for future releases of Joomla 1.6. Our best "guess" for the availability of future versions is late March 2010 for Beta 1 and late April of 2010 for the first stable version. The ability to deliver at these times is directly proportional to the amount of volunteer help the project receives.
We will not be looking into anything until at least Beta 1. Once Beta 1 is released, though, we will try to get something out for people to test. We will post again to this blog with status updates new developments occur.

BloggingPro just reviewed Joomla Admin Mobile, and their title says it all, "Joomla Lovers May Have The Greatest iPhone App Ever". We couldn't agree more! While we don't want gloat, we'll certainly summarize what so many other Joomla iPhone user's have already discovered.
The positive notes were the flexibility in image editing (rotate, flip, resize) and insertion points (anywhere in an article, you choose). Also noted as a huge plus was the ability to edit and update users while on the go.
As for disadvantages, the main note was that the interface could be a little prettier. Well noted, and expect some improvements in that area in the next release. Additionally, price was a factor, to which we always recommend trying out JAM Lite! which is free, and has all of the blogging features of it's bigger brother.
Don't forget to check out the full Joomla Admin Mobile review at BloggingPro.

A new version of the J Admin Mobile Joomla plugin is available which fixes a minor bug. The new 1.4.1 version fixes an issue where when saving a new article from your iPhone, if the "Front Page" switch is set, the new article doesn't actually get saved to the front page. Previously, you'd need to edit the article again and save it to the front page. We recommend that all users upgrade to the newest version available.
While we are working on the next version of J Admin Mobile, an updated version of the iPhone app from the app-store is not required to address this bug. |

The new version of Joomla Admin Mobile for the iPhone is out! For a full feature listing, read our previous post.
One Week Sale / Half Off
1.3.0 is a big milestone for our development, as landscape mode was a huge hurdle. To celebrate, for one-week only (until 8/17), the new version is on sale for only $4.99. That's right, 50% off the normal price! For this great price, you get the solid performing Joomla iPhone application that's been available for almost 6 months plus all future updates (we have plenty of new features in the pipeline).
Don't forget, you can always test the application first with the J Admin Mobile! Lite version, and you will need the Joomla plugin from CMS Market to allow the iPhone to connect to your site. |
